Women Walk for Joseph's House

Anyone who knows anything about Joseph’s House is familiar with the Winter Walk, the annual event that has become a holiday celebration and an important part of our financial health. Now, through the generosity of some young women, Joseph’s House benefited from a springtime walk as well.

Freihofers Community Walk, held the same day as its Run for Women, has been a long-standing fundraising opportunity for not-for-profits throughout the Capital Region. This year Joseph’s House was listed among those organizations through the efforts of Patty Thornton and some friends.

The event was held June 4th at the Empire State Plaza.

Patty is the Catering Manager at Saint Joseph’s Provincial House in the Food Service Program. She has gotten to know Sister Mary Anne Rodgers, Joseph’s House Board Member and the Provincial of that Community. Through their conversations about the Shelter, Patty has considered various ways she and her associates might assist in our mission. “The walk seemed like a great way to participate in a healthy community activity, have some fun with friends and help Joseph’s House all at the same time” she shared. After pulling together a team they started to prepare and had their first “training session” with Kelly Lynch from WGY on March 28th. “It was successful………we were all standing at the end!” she joked. Team members include Jolene Marble, Karissa Kehn and Casey Caswell.
